👯 Women in web3… and beyond
World of Women donated $15K to Tech Girl NYU, a web3 DAO formed by graduate students at New York University. Shannon Snow, COO at WoW, presented the donation to the DAO alongside Angie Kamath, the Dean of NYU.
Tech Girl NYU came into existence in 2023, when a group of graduate students from various parts of the world enrolled in the course "Marketing in the Metaverse" at NYU. Taught by Marc Beckman, an adjunct professor for Web3 marketing and founder of the advertising agency DMA United, the course inspired the students to form a DAO dedicated to empowering and encouraging women in technology.
In efforts to connect the DAO with the wider web3 ecosystem, 15 WoW Galaxy NFTs will be allocated in a separate fund to allow the DAO members to become part of the vibrant WoW community.Tech Girl NYU also launched an NFT Capsule Collection of handbags with designer Jeff Wan that encompasses 5 NFTs, expanding upon Wan’s presence in the metaverse. A total of 100 units are available, and a portion of the proceeds will go towards scholarships for underprivileged girls with an interest in technology.
Shachar Scott debuted the Meta Quest 3, Apple’s next generation immersive headset that explores mixed reality and VR experiences. She also announced Asgard’s Wrath 2, a VR game, both of which are hitting the marketing this fall and winter — and have my brother in law very excited.
Amber Vittoria launched her first collection as MoonPay’s first Artist in Residence. See the 1,530 NFTs featuring 100 artworks inspired by Amber’s poetry.

Fernanda Boccard is launching her SECOND collection of the sold out Serious and Cool NFT collection at the end of this month 👀 #alpha… so I wanted to throw it back to an early Women in Web3 podcast from one year ago, where I chatted with Fernanda about finding your voice, tricks to starting your first NFT collection, and how LinkedIn became an integral asset for her web3 journey.

Julian Holguin at Doodles and Ben Kaufman at Camp launched their collaboration of a first-ever “retail and entertainment experience” — happening this summer. (Think a new-age toy store, for kids and adults alike.)
Michelai Graham really went BTS at VeeCon. In coverage for Boardroom, she wrote about the business behind the conference, VeeFriends’ expansion with Andy Krainak, why speakers and partners actually wanted to show up, and more in this “not another run-of-the-mill story about Gary Vaynerchuk.”
Proof of Talk is happening at the Louvre in Paris next week, with Yat Siu from Animoca Brands; Staci Warden from Algorand; Charles Hoskinson at Cardano; Marieke Flament at Near; Stani Kulechov at Aave; Benjamin Mincu at Multiversx; and Pascal Gauthier from Ledger as keynotes.
Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is upon us. Krystal Hauserman of 11:11 Media provided a cheat sheet for where you need to be. (And also providing me major fomo 😁)

Louis Vuitton is bringing its iconic trunks in to the world of web3 via the Treasure Trunk NFT, a portal into immersive experiences and limited drops set to take place throughout the year. You can register to secure a Trunk starting on June 8… just be aware that they normally retail for $42,000… will the NFTs be more accessible? Stay tuned to find out.

I didn’t wait outside the stadium for homegirl Taylor Swift to play in Philly, but apparently she has mastered the balance of IRL and digital with “a long-form, real-life experience in an age that is otherwise dominated by short-form online content—though the tour is also perfectly designed to be consumed online. “
A Maryland school district is suing Meta, Google, Snap, and TikTok for contributing to a ‘mental health crisis’ amongst students. Proposed social media bans might have kids getting off their phones and going back to the playground. What’s your take?
That’s all for now folks! See you next week.
